The Best Strength-Giving Tip

Watercolor, Mountains, Lydia Jayne

Few people would argue the majesty of the mountains. Something about them inspires a little bit of awe inside of us. When we begin to pray over a challenge in our lives, it might be helpful to realize that the Mountain Maker is the One we approach. As Psalm 95:4 says “He holds in His hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains.” This almighty being who holds the mountains in his hands also promises to hold you. That means whatever we hold, or we face, He holds that too.

Recently, I have been challenged to spend more time in Psalm 139. In this psalm, the writer praises God, emphasizing in numerous ways how God’s knowledge, love and strength is beyond his. He acknowledges how God knows everything about him. He knows that no matter where he goes, whether the deepest depths or the highest heights, God is there. I want to encourage and challenge us today that the one who gives the mountains their strength is also able to give you strength today. No matter what you have in front of you today, God is holding you with as much stability as he holds the mountains. Sometimes the best way to fight back feeling weak (which then gives way to strength!) is to simply praise the One we know has all the strength, power and ability.

Question I’m thinking about and ask you to join me: Let’s take some time to praise God as the mountain maker. How does this help us approach him in a different way today?
