Excerpt from “Approaching God with Freedom and Confidence” by Lydia Jayne DiMarzio

I began writing a humble little devotional book in the beginning of the pandemic. At the time, I was working in a city hospital as a registered nurse and finishing my masters degree in science. I felt both trepidation and pride each day I drove to my shift or studied the human body and healthcare systems. One of the mornings before my shift I was praying and seeking God for guidance to help me keep my emotions in check. My nerves were winning that day.

It seemed to me like God’s Spirit gave me the image above. I felt God remind me how we are His children and that he is a loving Father, willing and able to help us in each of our endeavors. He reminded me of Who we approach when we seek to know Christ. He is the God who gives us talents and calls us to cultivate them, but He does not leave us by merely tossing the talent to us. He does not leave us alone to flounder. In fact, he never leaves us alone. He enjoys working with us in those talents, skills and work. He is right next to us, guiding us, teaching us and encouraging us! As Psalm 46:1 says, “He is our ever-present help.”

God reminded that I did not enter the hospital alone. I entered it with him. Sometimes we feel alone or confused or lost in our jobs, relationships or talents, but we are never alone. God is present with us. He loves when we ask for guidance and help. He truly loves it! So my encouragement to you is this: walk in his help today. You don’t go alone into your work whether it is a job site, studio, hospital, school, office, parenting role- even the your daily activities like what foods to eat and going to the gym! God wants to be there with you! Walk with him, talk with Him. He loves when you accept his help. He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him (James 4:8).

Something to consider: Is there anything you find yourself trying to do today that God wants to help you with? Feel free to comment below and I’d love to love to pray for you!
